If you are someone who takes time to capture beautiful sunsets or scenery, then you have gotten a glimpse of who I am 24/7!
Hi there! I’m Rebecca Ciornei, a Canadian artist and lover of sunsets, often capturing the beauty of nature, people, and animals through my artworks. As an introverted teenager, I became more involved in my artistic passions rather than involved out in the world like most people. Little did I know that my art journey would take off and grow into something so much more fulfilling to the world itself!
As an introverted teenager, I had learned to be observant of people from a distance, capturing the details in their facial features, particularly the eyes – the windows to the soul, the life of the person. My watchfulness taught me to appreciate the beauty of people and to challenge myself to capture that essence through my sketches. To create a hyper realistic look, I would enhance the shadows and highlights of a portraits, gradually working from dark to light colours.
After a couple years of doing portraits, I began painting sunset and scenery pieces in acrylic, following similar techniques to that of drawing. Eventually, I got comfortable painting landscapes on paper and canvas, and even got to paint a mural on my bedroom wall!
I would add my art style of vibrant, colour-filled nebulous clouds, galactic skies, and northern lights to my original artworks of landscapes and cloudscapes, such as this one.
Painting portraits on canvases was the next step of my art journey. Just as with drawing portraits and painting scenery, I put my art skills to the test and succeeded in painting my first self-portrait on canvas, as well as many other portraits.
By the time I turned 22, I had become more mature in my growth as an artist. I had gained confidence in trying new skills. I had learned to never doubt my artistic desires that God planted in my heart!
In time, I began desiring more connection with other like-minded people. I made it my mission to help where needed, whether in the workplace or in the home. My desire was to make life easier for others, while pursuing my financial goals and artistic passions. Specifically, I wanted to make life enjoyable and comforting for people through my artwork!
That desire from God was to use my art to bring colour, hope, and comfort in this crazy world. By learning and applying my different art skills, I managed to incorporate my unique art styles with every stroke of a pencil or brush. Initially, I thought my art was a recreation just to pass the time, but God had other plans for my life — a better purpose for me as an artist!
Now, I create artwork that displays my beliefs and feelings of hope, light, and colour to enlighten people. With every creation, I plan to display symbolism of hope, comfort, imagination, beauty, and wonder. I believe that these aspects testify to the God Who I look to for ultimate hope and comfort in life! These are the feelings I desire others to experience as well!
My mission is to inspire creativity, to challenge others to test the limits of their passions, to comfort others through the beauty and emotions of art – from the life-like scenery for the nature lover, to the portraits of those who have passed on from this life…
My goal is to dedicate my life to do what I love to do most: to create art for those who desire a splash of colour, to create a world of imagination beyond barren walls where one can escape for a while, and to visually offer hope and emotional comfort!
